Or, if the office has decided to scan all patients or all new patients, it’s nice if someone is already present that can provide necessary treatment in a timely fashion.

Upon successful completion of this course, the EDDA - Hygiene + Scanning will be able to perform the following duties:

Take and Record Vital Signs
Monitor the administration of nitrous oxide/oxygen; turn off nitrous oxide/oxygen at the completion of the dental procedure and make adjustments to the level of nitrous oxide/oxygen, but only following the specific instructions of the dentist.
Apply pit and fissure sealants, and primer and bonding agents to etched enamel or dentin; and light-cure with a fiber-optic light source (not to include the use of a laser device).

Apply topical anticariogenic agents.
Make impressions to be used to fabricate a night guard (bruxism or muscle relaxation appliance). All adjustments must be performed extraorally. Final adjustment must be made by the dentist.
Make impressions for passive orthodontic appliances.
Digital scans for fabrication orthodontic appliances and models.

Qualifications to take certification course (Mark One Only).

I am a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). I am a graduate of a 12 month approved assisting course. I am a 6-month employee

Additional requirements to practice as EDDA (must accept to complete application).

I must have a high school diploma or the equivalent thereof and maintain current CPR certification. I may only perform those expanded duties listed on my certificate(s).

Policy on Cheating (must accept to complete application).

I understand that if I am caught cheating or even give the appearance of cheating or misrepresenting someone else's work as my own, I will be dismissed from the course without a certificate, and forfeit the course fees. There are no refunds.

Financial Policy (must accept to complete application).

I understand there are no refunds. I may reschedule the test and hands-on portion of the course once (twice with your physician's medical excuse) in a 12-month period. It is my responsibility to keep up with the 12-month period.

Policy on Retaking the course (must accept to complete application).

If I do not pass the written test (I'll have 3 chances), or do not complete the clinical skills (duties), or am otherwise unprepared for the final exam and/or clinical skills portion of the course, I will not receive a certificate. However, after paying a $50.00 administrative fee to Expanded Duties LLC, I will be able to participate in the next course that has space for me.
