Expanded Duties Dental Assistant - Crown & Bridge Only

Over the past 30+ years, the main reason that doctors sent assistants to the Expanded Duties courses was so the assistant could place retraction cord and make temporaries. The assistants were signed up for the rest because that was the only option – all or none.

While all of Dr. Hair’s assistants have been fully trained in the expanded duties available at the time, they found that he would have to get up and stand in the hall, watching as his assistant performed the duties. It was best for the way they practiced for the doctor and assistant to remain on their respective sides of the patient chair; it was way more efficient for them.

EDDA-GP-Lite is basically a crown and bridge assistant, and those duties would include the following:

Take vital signs
Monitor Nitrous
Make temporaries
Placing retraction cord

Qualifications to take certification course (Mark One Only).

I am a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). I am a graduate of a 12 month approved assisting course. I am a 6-month employee

Additional requirements to practice as EDDA (must accept to complete application).

I must have a high school diploma or the equivalent thereof and maintain current CPR certification. I may only perform those expanded duties listed on my certificate(s).

Policy on Cheating (must accept to complete application).

I understand that if I am caught cheating or even give the appearance of cheating or misrepresenting someone else's work as my own, I will be dismissed from the course without a certificate, and forfeit the course fees. There are no refunds.

Financial Policy (must accept to complete application).

I understand there are no refunds. I may reschedule the test and hands-on portion of the course once (twice with your physician's medical excuse) in a 12-month period. It is my responsibility to keep up with the 12-month period.

Policy on Retaking the course (must accept to complete application).

If I do not pass the written test (I'll have 3 chances), or do not complete the clinical skills (duties), or am otherwise unprepared for the final exam and/or clinical skills portion of the course, I will not receive a certificate. However, after paying a $50.00 administrative fee to Expanded Duties LLC, I will be able to participate in the next course that has space for me.
